Unrelenting

It woke me from my sleep,
It often does
And breath it catches,
Body weary, heart ignited,
On my knees again I go.
This grief is unrelenting,
But Your voice is too,
I know...

There's a name
Upon my lips,
I send it forth
Up to Your listening,
With all the force
Of my existing -
Father, Your will,
May it come.

May it happen,
Quick with mercy -
Time enough
Has gone on spending,
All these tears and years
And yearning,

There's a name
Upon my tongue.

I speak it forth
Up to Your listening,
With the force
Of my existing -
Father, Your will,
May it come.

May the heritage
Hold stronger
Than the forces
Bent to break it.
May it bring us
to our knees
And on our knees, God,
Help us face it,

There's a name
It's on my heart,
It never leaves...

I speak it loudly,
To Your listening,
With all the force
Of my existing,
All the tears
and all the trembling -

By Your love,
and Your existing,
Father, Your will,
May it come.
